Course Brief

This module equips learners with foundational knowledge of generative AI and practical skills in chatbot development using Microsoft Copilot Studio. Through an introduction to generative AI and prompt engineering, learners will explore how AI systems interpret and generate human-like responses. They will gain insights into constructing effective prompts that guide AI behavior, enhancing the relevance and accuracy of conversational outputs. The module then transitions to applied learning with Microsoft Copilot Studio, where students will design, build, and test intelligent chatbots capable of handling real-world interactions.

By the end of the module, learners will be proficient in developing AI-driven conversational experiences tailored to user needs. They will understand the principles of prompt engineering and be able to create functional chatbots using industry-standard tools. Graduates of this module will be equipped to apply these abilities in diverse digital contexts, contributing to AI integration within organizational workflows or customer service environments.

Course Knowledge, Skills & Ability Summary

At the end of the course, you will be able to acquire the following:

Knowledge

  • Explain the principles behind zero-shot, one-shot, and few-shot prompting, and how they affect large language model behaviour.
  • Analyse the quality of AI-generated responses and identify how prompt wording, structure, and context influence output.
  • Describe key components of Copilot Studio such as topics, intents, triggers, entities, and how they support chatbot logic.
  • Explain how to embed prompt-based reasoning into chat nodes using generative AI tools within Copilot Studio.

Skills

  • Create and refine prompts for specific conversational use cases, improving clarity, tone, and performance.
  • Construct multi-step prompts and role-based instructions to enable complex reasoning and conversational logic.
  • Configure and publish an AI-powered chatbot that handles user queries, uses custom flows, and provides dynamic responses.
  • Use testing methods and performance metrics to evaluate chatbot behavior and iterate for improvement.

Ability
